Dr. Patrick Friend was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky and raised in Fresno, California. He attended University of California at Irvine where he played water polo and graduated with degrees in both Chemistry and Biology. He went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Southern California. During his studies he received awards from both the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Association of Public Health Dentistry.
Dr. Friend completed a one-year oral surgery internship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and his residency training at University of Miami. These programs had a clinical focus on trauma surgery, orthognathic surgery, pathology and reconstructive surgery as well as adult and pediatric anesthesia. During his chief year Dr. Friend received the Outstanding Surgical Skills award.
Dr. Friend is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is an active member with the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Middle Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Friend was voted Top Dentist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by Northern Virginia Magazine, and serves as one of the team oral surgeons for D.C. United, the Major League Soccer (MLS) team and Washington Spirit, the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team in Washington, D.C. Outside of work he enjoys swimming, cooking, traveling and spending time with his wife.
